Batia is a partner with EY Law LLP who helps some of the largest companies in North America with the management and coordination of their Global, Canadian and US immigration programs. She works closely with her colleagues in the Global Business Immigration Services and Human Capital practices of EY Law LLP around the world to relocate foreign nationals to Canada and the US; relocate Canadian and US expatriates to foreign jurisdictions; and help clients meet their global mobility, expatriate tax and human resources needs.
Batia has made regular appearances before all levels of the Immigration and Refugee Board; she has represented clients before the Federal Court of Canada; and she makes regular submissions to immigration offices throughout Canada and the United States, as well as to consulates and visa posts around the world. She helps corporate and individual clients prepare and submit applications for permanent residence, work authorization, study authorization, visitor status, returning residence and citizenship.
She holds an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and a BA from York University. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association (Citizenship and Immigration section), the Canadian Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (Canada Chapter).
Batia has lectured on Canadian immigration law at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Science, where she was the part-time coordinator of the Immigration Practitioner Certificate Program.
