Jonathan is a partner with EY Law LLP and is a member of the Tax Law Services group, focusing on indirect tax. Jonathan’s practice focuses on advising clients on corporate, international and indirect tax matters.

Experience

An accomplished tax lawyer, Jonathan has broad tax experience advising and representing clients on income tax, GST/HST, PST, customs matters, and resolving tax controversy disputes through audit, objections, appeals and settlement.

Jonathan provides practical and tangible advice that is underpinned by a deeper understanding of a client’s business, operations, and key stakeholders. He works closely with multinationals, foreign inbound and Canadian businesses in a broad range of industries and sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, and technology, bringing market experience and creative tax acumen to complex tax matters.

Jonathan has represented clients before the Tax Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.

He is also a course facilitator for CPA Canada’s GST/HST In-Depth Part 1 and 2, and also regularly contributed to Ernst & Young’s and CPA Canada’s Commodity Tax News.
