Karina Richardson Jones

Karina is a Senior Manager Attorney with EY Law LLP based in Toronto. Dually licensed to practice law in both the United States and Canada, she has several years of experience representing clients of various sizes across a wide array of industries, from startups to multinational corporations.

Experience

Karina advises corporate organizations and their employees on a full spectrum of US business immigration matters. Her experience includes nonimmigrant classifications, including business visitors, employment-based petitions, intra-company transfers, investor visas, extraordinary ability-based visas and NAFTA-based applications and petitions, as well as immigrant (green card) petitions and applications for professionals, individuals of extraordinary ability, multinational managers and executives.

Karina has provided counsel to clients from diverse industries and sectors, including arts and entertainment, finance, professional services, fashion design, visual arts, sports, oil and gas, architecture and information technology. She works closely with executives, business partners and stakeholders to advise on employment and immigration issues related to new office openings, employee recruitment, enterprise restructuring and other corporate changes.

Prior to joining EY Law in 2016, Karina practiced both Canadian and US immigration law, providing full-service immigration advice and representation to her clients. She also has several years of experience practicing employment law and corporate litigation with a highly respected national law firm in Miami, Florida.

Credentials

Karina is licensed to practice law in both Canada (Law Society of Upper Canada) and the United States (the Florida Bar, United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida). Karina holds a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from St. Thomas University School of Law (Miami) and earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Development Economics from McGill University (Montreal). While in law school, Karina had the opportunity to clerk for United States Federal Judge the Hon. Adalberto Jordan, currently of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
